One who has been in and around the kpop fanfiction ringer for a length of time has probably delved into the tags of other groups that they're not fans of... Maybe out of pure curiosity, or maybe for mental find-and-replace crimes (LOL). Having been a former connoisseur of the NCT tag, a current Seventeen tag buff, I am a veritable Kpoppie of ao3 experience in some of the bigger Kpop tags on the site. I feel like I need to include another here, so I will also be discussing the Stray Kids ao3 tag which I have observed to be worthy of study, and is similar in that they're a popular 3rd-ish gen boy group that's popular on AO3. Let's get into it. Read more... )

So I realized its been almost a year of near-interrupted residency in Caratland (and its ao3 tag) so I figured it's time to post a few that I've liked. Not exactly recs but just grouping some fics mostly for my own organization. Mostly going through my ao3 history as I'm notoriously bad at actually leaving bookmarks... Let's get into it, in no particular order, non-exhaustive, etc.

Well we are approaching a half year of residence in Caratland after I finally sold off some dilapidated property in Ncity so it's time to a do a little retrospective I guess!

A hastily put together and short anthology of games Seventeen have invented. Frequently played as drinking games, games to decide punishment, or as a "minigame" within a larger game.
    • Calculator Game
Possibly their most ridiculous game and one of the funniest. First played ~2016, possibly before.

Origin: Unknown
Supplies Needed
: 1 calculator
Rules: Hit, rub, or press, a calculator against your head for 5-10 seconds. Whoever gets the biggest number wins.
Variation: Played as team game, either as two teams where the number each person gets is added up and whichever team has the biggest final number wins. Or played as a team against staff where they must get higher than a certain number given by staff (i.e. 1 billion)

  • Dogyeom Game
A game of speed and coordination!

Origin: A 2019 Going Seventeen episode where they are basically put in a room by themselves and spooked. DK gets up and runs out of the room super fast, inspiring the Dogyeom game.
Supplies Needed:
Chair, stopwatch. Table and item to mark the 3 metre line are optional.
Rules: Get up at the sound of the whistle and "run" 3 metres in 1.3 seconds. Three opportunities to beat that time are given.
Variation: Just trying to reach 3 metres as fast as possible, such as 1v1 as seen in 2019 Gosev Ep. 17.
Archival Footage: TTT 2019, also explains the origin and rules, GoSev Ep. 17 Human Chess
  • Scoups Game
Origin: There was a running gag because Korean media would frequently get Scoups name wrong (i.e. "A coups") that you could replace his name with any four-syllable/letter word. Popular nicknames were Asparagus, Maximus, Ratatouille. During an MMTG appearance they had a segment where they were going to debate whether he would change his name or not. The side that opposed changing his name randomly said that they could make a game out his name, and they basically made it up on the spot and started playing. Also Hoshi makes up a dance for it in the TTT version.
Supplies Needed:
None
Rules: Going around in a circle, say any four-letter (Korean syllable) word. If you are delayed, or say a word that is more or less than four syllables, you lose.
Notes: Opening song is to the tune of 2NE1 "Fire"
Archival Footage: MMTG segment (timestamped), TTT 2020
  • Spiderman Game
Origin: DK randomly saying "Spiderman Game" when asked what game he wanted to play with no explanation. They kind of talk out the rules a bit after Seungkwan is really confused. I don't really get it either.
Supplies Needed: None
Rules: Someone pretends to shoot spiderwebs at someone else like Spiderman, the other person has to dodge. Also apparently you're not supposed to laugh. I really don't get it and neither do they cause they keep fighting about the rules.
Archival Footage: TTT 2021
  • Antman Game
Origin: Another game originating from TTT 2021. Vernon suggests "Antman Game" after they play "Spiderman Game" to follow the whole Avengers theme thing. His original idea is for everyone to go and find an ant and whoever brings back the biggest ant wins. Jeonghan jumps in and suggests the game they end up playing.
Supplies Needed: Small item
Rules: Everyone has five seconds to get up and find the smallest item and the person with the biggest item loses.
Archival Footage: TTT 2021

I had three dreams in total that I remembered. The first one was right before I woke up for the first time... I was at a beach or somewhere else busy when a small meteor hit the ground but it wasn't that big or anything just cool. Then a few minutes later I look up and I see a bit oblong dark shape in the sky and within a moment it hit the ground near me. I saw it wasn't going to hit me but I knew the firestorm would vaporize me instantly. So I died in that dream which was scary but then I woke up.

I was awake for about an hour and a half before I fell back asleep. This dream was way more detailed and hard to explain. It felt like it was kinda a tv show/movie... Cool thriller genre or something. Basically I was semi-possessed by? someone? It was weird. The most memorable part was that I was doing a ballet show but I didn't know how to do anything but I had to let whoever was possessing me do the work. Also I think there was a weird romance thing with the lead dancer in the ballet? This sounds so lame when I explain but it was really so cool and epic.

The last one was actually really freaky in the end and the longest. There was more to it but the gist of it was that I went to this kind of.. gambling place? Im not sure. But as we went through it got progressively more weird and creepy. I think it had something to do with midsommar? I had read the plot or something and it was like I was in the movie and was confused because when I read the plot I didn't remember any of this stuff. In the end I came upon this weird ritual going on at this place where the ritually sacrificed a baby (ill save the more gory details).. there was more to this dream and again explaining it this way just makes it sound boring it was actually super eerie. I think one of the scariest parts was that throughout the dream noticing lots of people watching me... Just the feeling of that is really weird.
